Production Operator

What’s this job like?

The right person for this job loves to be part of a busy factory. It's hands-on, it's physical. It’s the complete opposite of sitting behind a desk bored out of your mind. If your favorite class was shop, or your idea of fun is actually building something, this might be a good fit for you.

Operators for Oakley work on material preparation of metal and plastic sheet goods; large format digital and screen printing; material finishing and shaping operations include die cutting; final assembly of printed items into a wide variety of frames and stakes; packaging of finished items to ensure quality, accuracy, and boxing for safe delivery; and a busy shipping and receiving area that ships all completed orders as well as manages and warehouses all in-coming raw materials and supplies. Also: You can't stand a dirty work area.

The position pays between $10 - $15/hour, depending on skill level and responsibility. We also offer insurance and benefits.

Skills and education you’ll need.

Some basics:

• ...to have a high school diploma (or equivalent).
• ...to be able to read and write English.
• ...to be able to distinguish colors.
• ...to be able to measure materials and perform simple calculations.
• ...to be able to handle the physical demands of working in a factory.
• ...to be able to read work orders and double-check orders for accuracy.

Technical skills:

• Experience with fixed machine operations / assembly line production.
• Experience with power tools and hand tools.
• Ability to quickly learn machine operations, setup, and maintenance.
• Ability to effectively communicate with peers, supervisors and managers.

Stuff that could give you an edge:

• You're bilingual (especially Spanish).
• You've worked in printing and/or manufacturing in the past.
• You've worked with computer-based shipping/receiving systems.
• You're willing to work flexible hours and/or overtime.
